Drone photography in the UK is booming.
Call them drones, quadcopter, quadrotor helicopter or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), they open a world of possibilities for all sorts of photographers looking to take their photography (literally) to another level.
Real estate aerial photography is one of multiple uses of UAVs and one of the best ways to boost sales of property, providing an unobstructed birds-eye view. It's also great for advertising and marketing of hotels & resorts, events venues, festivals... But the aim doesn't always have to be commercial (as often restricted by the need for licences) as I found out photographing our own home in Dorset from 300 feet up in the air.
My family had the house photographed from the air 5 times from 1960 to 1992. I always loved looking at these photos as a kid, each of them showing how everything changed from being a barren field to a lush property with lawns, fishing lake, gorgeous trees and tennis court.
And since it wasn't photographed since 1992 and I now shoot aerial photography too as a hobby, I couldn't resist but capture an updated and very affordable aerial photograph, a lot cheaper than hiring a plane or a helicopter!
What do you think of aerial photography?
