Filmed in 4K with the DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone

In early August 2022 I acquired a new drone, the DJI Mini 3 Pro with the DJI RC.

This is my third drone since 2014, it is also the smallest and yet the most capable. I’m not a particular gear junkie needing a new toy every year, nor can I afford it. I like to make my equipment last as long as possible. My first drone was a DJI Phantom 2 Vision +, flown from 2014 to 2017, that’s when it was eaten by a tree. I then purchased a DJI Mavic Pro in 2017 which lasted me until this summer, August 2022, when I finally took the plunge and bought the latest DJI drone, the Mini 3 Pro with DJI RC.

My main reason for purchasing it is its size and weight as at under 250g the DJI Mini 3 Pro does not fall under the same strict rules and legal minefield as heavier drones do.

Anyone can fly the DJI Mini 3 Pro pretty much anywhere except no-fly zones such as airports or army bases and provided they have registered for a drone Operator ID which they display visibly on their drone. This means it can be flown above people (not crowds) in urban areas and over commercial, residential and industrial property. Of course flying should always be done safely regardless of the location.

I’m not going to go into a full review of this drone, I will probably do so in a separate article.

I’m here instead to share with you my first short film, captured with the DJI Mini 3 Pro. This should highlight what can be achieved with it and I hope will raise further awareness of the beauty which surrounds us and that is at risk of human over-exploitation.

I welcome your comments!

Until next time,

Nico
